FERPA Shortcuts for Students

UConn is required to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal privacy law aimed at safeguarding your education records. We’ve created this page to direct you to helpful resources and information when navigating your privacy at UConn. Resource #1: Student Notification of Rights

This notification informs you of your student rights under FERPA. For example, you have the right to inspect and review your education records. You may review all of your student privacy rights here.

Resource #2: FERPA Policy

The University’s FERPA Policy gives important information on the protection of student rights and privacy at UConn. The policy outlines your student rights, when we may share your information, and the process for challenging the accuracy of your education records. Please review the FERPA Policy online or request a printable copy from the Privacy Officer.

Resource #3: Share My Information Page

You have access to several tools where you can give us permission to share records and information with outside parties (such as parents and guardians). Before we share records or information externally, we typically need your prior consent.
